Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made by Effektiv Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 80 666 834 715), trading as Effektiv, pursuant to the spirit of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). While Effektiv Solutions is below the mandatory reporting threshold, we are committed to conducting our business ethically and to playing our part in addressing modern slavery in all its forms.

Section 1

About Our Business

Effektiv Solutions Pty Ltd (trading as Effektiv)
ABN 80 666 834 715
Suite 502, 9 Yarra Street, South Yarra VIC 3141, Melbourne, Australia

Effektiv Solutions Pty Ltd is an Australian web design, web development, and digital marketing agency based in Melbourne, Victoria. We provide website design and build, hosting and maintenance, search engine optimisation, email marketing, and marketing automation services to small and medium-sized businesses throughout Australia.

We are a small business operating with a lean team of Australian-based principals and contractors. Our services are delivered primarily through digital means, with our core operations conducted within Australia.

Section 2

What is Modern Slavery?

Modern slavery is a broad term that describes situations where a person is exploited by others for personal or commercial gain. It encompasses a range of serious crimes and human rights violations, including:

  • Forced labour — compelling a person to work through threats, violence, or coercion;
  • Human trafficking — recruiting, transporting, or receiving people for exploitation;
  • Debt bondage — controlling a person through inflated or fabricated debt;
  • Child labour — using children in ways that deprive them of their childhood and are harmful to their development;
  • Forced marriage — marriage without free and full consent; and
  • Deceptive recruiting — deceiving workers about the nature, location, or conditions of work.

Modern slavery can occur in any industry and any country. In Australia, it is addressed primarily through the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and equivalent state and territory legislation.

Section 3

Our Structure and Supply Chain

Effektiv Solutions is a privately held Australian company. Our business structure is straightforward:

Direct workforce

Our core team consists of Australian-based directors, employees, and contractors engaged directly by Effektiv Solutions. All workers engaged directly by us are engaged under Australian workplace laws, including the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), and are paid lawful wages and conditions.

Supply chain

Our primary supply chain consists of:

  • Software and platform vendors — including WordPress, WebCommander, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Ahrefs, Google, and other digital tools. These are predominantly large, publicly listed or well-established technology companies headquartered in Australia, the United States, or Europe, subject to modern slavery reporting obligations in their own jurisdictions;
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — Australian-based cloud hosting providers;
  • Specialist contractors — individual freelance designers, developers, and marketers engaged on a project basis, predominantly based in Australia;
  • Professional services — accountants, legal advisors, and other professional service firms based in Australia.

Given the nature of our business — primarily digital services delivered through established technology platforms — our supply chain is limited in scope and relatively low in modern slavery risk compared to industries with complex global manufacturing or labour-intensive physical supply chains.

Section 4

Risks in Our Operations and Supply Chain

We have assessed the modern slavery risks in our operations and supply chain. Given our size, sector, and the predominantly Australian and Western-based nature of our supply chain, we assess the overall risk of modern slavery in our direct operations as low. The areas of highest relative risk are:

Offshore contractors

Where we engage specialist contractors based outside Australia — for example, developers or designers in regions with less mature labour protections — there is a higher relative risk that those individuals may not be receiving fair wages or working under acceptable conditions. We mitigate this by engaging contractors through established platforms with worker protections, and by paying rates that are fair relative to local market conditions.

Tier-2 and tier-3 supply chains of technology vendors

Large technology platform providers may themselves have complex global supply chains — including hardware manufacturing — that carry higher modern slavery risk. This risk is largely outside our direct control but is mitigated by our preference for vendors who publish modern slavery statements and maintain robust human rights policies.

Section 5

Our Commitments

Effektiv Solutions is committed to the following principles in relation to modern slavery:

⚖️

Fair and lawful employment

All workers engaged directly by Effektiv Solutions receive at least minimum wage under applicable Australian law, are engaged under written agreements, and are free to end their engagement without penalty.

🤝

Ethical supplier engagement

We prefer to engage suppliers and contractors who share our values and who comply with applicable laws regarding fair pay, safe working conditions, and freedom of association.

🔍

Due diligence

We will conduct proportionate due diligence when engaging new suppliers or contractors, particularly where there is a higher risk of labour exploitation.

📣

Speak up culture

We encourage anyone in our business or supply chain who has concerns about modern slavery or labour exploitation to raise those concerns with us without fear of reprisal.

📚

Awareness and training

We will ensure that our principals and key staff are aware of modern slavery risks and their obligations, and will provide relevant guidance as our business grows.

🔄

Continuous improvement

We will review this statement annually and update our practices as our understanding of modern slavery risks in our sector develops.

Section 6

Due Diligence Processes

Our current due diligence measures include:

  • Verifying that Australian contractors and employees are engaged under written agreements that comply with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth);
  • For offshore contractors, confirming engagement through reputable platforms and assessing the fair market rate for their location and skill level;
  • Reviewing the publicly available modern slavery statements and human rights policies of our major technology platform vendors;
  • Maintaining an open-door policy for workers and contractors to raise concerns about working conditions; and
  • Reviewing this statement and our supply chain risk profile annually.

As our business grows and our supply chain becomes more complex, we will develop more formalised due diligence procedures proportionate to the risks involved.

Section 7

Reporting Concerns

Anyone who becomes aware of, or suspects, modern slavery in connection with our business or supply chain is encouraged to report it. Reports can be made to:

Managing Director
Effektiv Solutions Pty Ltd
info@effektiv.com.au
(03) 7073 2525

All reports will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

Concerns may also be reported to the Australian Federal Police or the Fair Work Ombudsman. The National Human Trafficking Hotline can be reached on 1800 THE WAR (1800 843 927).

Section 8

Review and Improvement

This statement will be reviewed annually by the directors of Effektiv Solutions Pty Ltd. Updates will reflect any changes to our business structure, supply chain, or understanding of modern slavery risks in our sector.

We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process, not a one-time exercise. We are committed to improving our practices and to conducting our business in a way that respects the rights and dignity of all people.
